Single Engine Piston (SEP)
Obtain or renew your SEP rating - Fly efficiently and safely

Single Engine Piston Haling
The Single Engine Piston (SEP) training at Wings over Holland is designed for pilots who want to fly single-engine aircraft. A minimum LAPL (Light Aircraft Pilot License) is required to participate in this training. This training allows pilots to obtain their SEP class rating, which allows them to fly aircraft within this category independently.
Training consists of a practical portion of at least 3 hours of flight training on a Katana DV-20. During this training, the pilot will learn all the essential skills necessary to safely and efficiently fly a Single Engine Piston aircraft. The training is tailored to the individual needs of the pilot and can be extended as needed.
Completion of SEP training is followed by a practical exam, which consists of an approximately 1-hour flight with an examiner. This training is essential for pilots seeking to obtain or renew their SEP rating. Single Engine Piston certification gives pilots the freedom to fly independently and further develop their skills within general aviation.

What is an SEP?
A Single Engine Piston (SEP) is a category of aircraft, mostly used for private, training and short commercial flights. To obtain or renew an SEP class rating, a pilot must undergo specific flight training and pass an exam.
The SEP rating is valid for 2 years and can be renewed through a pro check or recent flying experience. This makes it an accessible and popular choice within general aviation.
